Founded in 1913, the California Alpine Club is a state of California registered 501(c)(7) non-profit corporation; and a large and active social club, nearly a thousand members strong.

Membership Information

THE PURPOSES of this Club are: To explore, enjoy, and protect the natural resources of our land, including wildlife, forests and plants, water and scenic values; to support and promote educational programs on these and related subjects; at all times to protect and, as far as we are able, improve the environment in which we live; and to strengthen a sense of community among our Members and Associate Members.

Sunday Hikes from Alpine Lodge

For decades groups have gathered for Sunday morning hikes from the California Alpine Club's rustic Alpine Lodge at 730 Panoramic Highway, Mill Valley, California. CAC members serving as Sunday Innkeepers are almost always available to show the lodge, and beverages and snacks are usually available for a small fee.

Many of these hikes are sponsored by the California Alpine Club (CAC) with CAC members leading hikes of various levels of ability. The Sierra Club and other parties frequently begin and end their hikes here too.
